Getting Ready for The FLA

Typically, we wouldn’t post a blog saying that we are getting ready to leave town… Unfortunately in today’s times, that’s a green light for any predators that might be trolling these blogs in hopes of tracking down “out of towners” to clean out. And let’s face it, when you are rolling in luxury items like we are it would be such a haul… After all we are swimming in all sorts of disposal income what with twin infant girls around and all… Note our strong tone of sarcasm!

But censors are luckily not needed in this entry because Grandma McKee has been pressed into service in our stead. (And for that, we thank our lucky stars… The Good Lord only knows what we’d do if Grandma McKee wasn’t around to bail us out yet again!)

So, with that elongated disclaimer out of the way, all we can say is that we can’t wait to start our first official summer vacation trip with the girls to start later this week. Watch out Florida, here we come!!! Better yet, watch out blog followers because you’re about to get flooded with a bevy of photos that you’re likely find rather mundane but that we just adore!

I will caution that Mom and Dad are a little concerned about what twin nine-month olds might be like on a nearly three-hour flight south. Still, we are blessed in the fact that both Braelyn and Gwendolyn are very good when we take them out. Obviously this is a much longer stretch of time than snarffing down a meal at one of our favorite local eateries with the girls in tow, but fingers crossed that they (and more importantly Mom and Dad) survive unscathed. Better yet, if you are on a flight down to Florida tomorrow and notice a row of seats with a nice couple each holding an infant on their lap and an open center seat between them DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES SIT IN THAT SEAT… you will regret it!!!

;)

Not much on the update department as far as the girls are concerned. At Gwendolyn’s occupational therapy visit earlier this week, the decision was made that she needed an “oral vibrator” (no snickers from the Peanut Gallery please). The concern is that since her mouth is really only in use is when the binky is inserted (which granted is quite often) or when she consumes her small helpings of frozen solids during the course of the day, she’s falling behind in her oral development skills. As time continues on, she could be very late talking because of this. So, the idea that that she needs this oral vibrator to help stimulate her mouth. And until it arrives, we had to get Gwen an electric toothbrush to help fill in the time gap. Just a note, the moments when we’re giving the Gwenner this “treatment” at home really is equal parts hysterical and uncomfortable. And for some reason, Braelyn is deathly afraid of the electric toothbrush. So, whenever we get it out to use on Gwen, Braelyn has a look of horror and disgust on her face.

Speaking of Brae Bear, she’s getting some one-on-one time with Grandma McKee (there’s the girls’ resident angel of a grandmother in action again) this morning while Mom has Gwen at the hospital for a weekly round of physical therapy. Our oldest by two minutes still isn’t crawling but she does continue to stand while holding onto furniture… That is until she realizes she’s standing at which time her body goes limp and she crumbles to the ground in a heap of baby. It is amazing what a young child can do when they aren’t thinking about it… And then as soon as they do realize it, it’s like Superman and kryptonite.

Outside of that, our procrastination in the packing department is necessitating that we wrap this entry up… If not, we might be showing up in Florida with Braelyn, Gwendolyn and little else!

  1. I know you are probably thinking...geesh....I just posted this and you are already commenting but keep in mind that I have a boring desk job and am always looking for something to entertain me. And alas...Chuck has updated the blog! I wanted to thank you for providing a couple of minutes of fun for your loyal readers. I love seeing what your girls are up to.

And kudos on the kryptonite reference!

Travel safe. I'm sure the girls will be fine and will love FL! Enjoy and keep the pics coming (cause some of us have to work tomorrow and...well...I need something fun to distract me)!
