48 hours down… A lifetime to go

Good morning all. Not a lot of “breaking” news from the Castellano camp this morning which is just fine by me.

Gwen is still recovering. We hope to get the okay in a little bit for her to begin getting fed with milk pumped from Heather. She’s in a lot of pain when she’s awake so I don’t get much interaction with her. The only good part about her pain fits is that she’ll kick her legs from time to time. That just keeps reassuring me that she’ll maintain at least a little bit of movement there.

Braelyn continues to do quite well in her own right. She’s nursing on a regular basis and then being supplemented with formula after her feedings via syringe. I got to assist with a couple of those post-nursing formula feedings last night. Braelyn certainly is one hungry girl. The formula helps to get her extra calories that she’ll need to catch-up in size with her “younger” sister.

Heather is healing up well. She showered this morning and seemed in good spirits after getting nice and clean. Save for a grumpy tummy, she seems to be doing just fine.

  1. Gwen is certainly proving to be a fighter and thank God for that. Please know that all of us here at Nativity and beyond are holding all of you in prayer. Remember the Footprints prayer - Jesus not only walks beside us, but carries us when we need Him to and I believe right now He has all of you securely in the palm of His hand.

  3. Heather and Carlo~ God Bless your little angels! It's such a relief to hear that Gwen and Braelyn are finally here. Love the pictures and will be checking in on you frequently. Can't wait to see the Castellano cuties in person. Will continue to pray for your whole family. Enjoy every minute, it goes by too quickly. Take care and we're just a phone call away if you need anything. Brian and Cyndi Sloan

  4. Hang in there Heather. Get as much rest as you can and you'll do fine. The yucky tummy feeling will go away soon. I delivered both ways and I'll tell you that personally I liked the C/S better than the pain from the episiotomy and hemmorhoids! Just let people do for you for now and you'll be back to your old self soon. Of course, once home you'll have two babies to take care of so you'll be exhausted again. But just looking at their sweet smiles will rejuvenate you every time!

  5. CONGRATULATIONS!!!!! They are absolutely GORGEOUS!!! I burst into tears when I saw them. Heather, you're already #1 MOM in my book for carrying those angels as long as you did under the circumstances. I can't wait to see more pics. Just remember, both of you: Crazy=Normal right now, just roll with it. Each day will be better than the next. Love you all- Henry
